Gokyo Lakes and GokyoRi Trek

Tour Highlights

The trek through to the Gokyo Valley is a gem among the Khumbu region’s attractions, home to Ngozumpa, Nepal’s largest glacier, and a string of stunningly azure glacial lakes. Tremendous views of the four 8000 meter peaks of Everest, Cho Oyo, Lhotse, and Makalu are ever present during this journey. A day’s excursion will take us to the top of Gokyo Ri, at 5357 meters, from which perhaps the most breathtaking panorama in the region can be enjoyed. At 5000 meters above sea level, the Gokyo lakes are the world’s highest freshwater lake system. We’ll experience the culture of the high-altitude dwelling residents of the tiny settlement at Gokyo, and take in some of the best scenery in the Khumbu region along the way.
